They are saying now that a landslide blocked the tracks and the train hit it.   Heavy rains in the area.

I wonder what speed was involved. The preceeding train knew the normal track was blocked and so this train was running on the reverse direction track. Looks like speed was not too great.

Thankfully a wash out the same day did not cause another accident .  Washout is causing major delays Edinburgh - Glasgow probably due to detour routes.  At least the UK is able to detour whereas in the US  ? ? ?

Repairs are going to take some tim according to NR.
