system to be installed on UK's western route.  Has some continental success and Amtrak should look at this system.

I may be wrong,  but the catenary doesn't seem to fail nearly at often in Europe,  even with higher traffic density and higher speeds. Why must we reinvent the wheel?

I believe all of Amtrak's catenary - pantograph entanglements occured where constant-support, variable tension catenary still exists, not where consdant-tension caternary has been installed.
