Not quite sure how this is happening, but it fits into some people's model of how to make Amtrak LD 'work'... a one-time private excursion of considerable length in mid-October 2019

Just a week after the Big Boy trips over Cajon, if you have disposable income left after that...
Not activated link so hard to see on a phone. Help?
Link in the post was as 'activated' as Kalmbach is likely going to let it be -- I pasted it into the 'URL' link tool twice to be sure. Note that it is that verboten thing for the insecure among them, a link to another railroad forum. I tried embedding it using the URL= tags, and I see it changing color when I mouse over it, but nothing happens when I click on it, and this tells me there is back-end code intended to make some posts difficult or impossible to hotlink.
I just ensured the post had not been deleted from RyPN by cutting and pasting the link as given; it renders correctly on my system. If you need to, go over to the RyPN site and navigate to the "Railfanning" board (it is intentionally arcane to find!) and look for "ONE WAY PV trip on Southwest Chief".
If any of the Kalmbach mods dislike a reference to RyPN, they should contact me via PM and I will paraphrase the information and contact instead of linking.
Making it that complicated on a phone (easier on a laptop) sounds like calm stream's doings.
charlie hebdo... sounds like calm stream's doings.
I like that euphemism! Thanks.
Just a translation , from Dutch and German
Ja, 'stimmt
Well the link's "lit up" just fine, and I AM impressed with the interior of that private car! I don't think the suspended "Edison" bulbs are 100% authentic, but they sure look cool!
At any rate I'm sure they're appropriate for the rolling party on rails that trip's going to be!

The 'Edison Lights' look like what I see around Christmas Tree sales lots at Christmas time - they look very, very temporary.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
i suspect the "strung lights" are temporary because the car is not on "hotel" power and may not have a generator.
The link was corrected. Other than nostalgia, that doesn't look very nice or pleasant to ride far in.
I would take that trip, but in a sleeper- are there any pictures of sleeping accomodations? Sitting upright all night doesn't work for me. If not, I'll have to stay in the bar.
