With all the triple digit temps where are heat restrictions coming day to day ? Know Amtrak had to slow the Penn line out of WASH yesterday due to variable tension CAT sagging too much .

#21 has been running late most of this week. It was 1 hour 6 minutes late into San Antonio on Tuesday, 2 hours 8 minutes on Wednesday, 18 minutes last night, and 22 minutes tonight. Given the heavy schedule padding between Austin and San Antonio, it probably was much later at the inermediate stations between Fort Worth and Austin.
If my memory serves me correctly, #21 usually runs late during the very hot weather. It is probably because the locomotives are based in Chicago, which is Yankee Land, and they have trouble adjusting to our Texas summers!

On CSX when Heat Orders are issued they are effective between 1300 & 1900. During the other hours of the day, Timetable speeds are expected to be maintained.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Also, the UP lines that the Texas Eagle runs on are heavily congested, South of St. Louis... especially so after recovering from a National Holiday when most rail crews take off. I have ridden the Texas Eagle the day before and the day of Christmas..........almost no delays and it arrives at most stations ahead of schedule, usually runs at top speed on those two days. The day or days after Christmas...you have issues with time keeping.
