Maybe my comment about the Texas Eagle being more than four hours late into Taylor was not a one-off. Today, June 13th, the Eagle is expected to arrive in Dallas at 8.38 p.m. or 5 hours, 18 minutes hours late. The Sunset Limited is reported 6.5 hours late for Beaumont.

On Friday mornings the through cars are transferred from the Sunset Limited to the Texas Eagle in San Antonio. If the Sunset is late, the Eagle departs San Antonio late. The Sunset was 8 hours, 4 minutes late into San Antonio this morning.

Only the most loyal Amtrak riders will put up with this nonsense. If Amtrak cannot resolve this problem, it could be the death knell of the long distance trains.
