Amtrak on TRE Line
Posted by CMStPnP on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 10:05 PM

Finally someone posted a video on youtube.    Amtrak Texas Eagle on TRE between Dallas and Ft. Worth running at speed through a TRE station.    Amtrak should make better time on the ex-RI  TRE line as it is not as congested as the UP line it moved off of.

There have been reports that Amtrak can still use UP if necessary.  How will crews maintain UP qualification especially if new crew transfer onto the route ?

I think they would just put a UP Pilot locomotive on front and run 10 mph slower.    The UP route I believe is still going to get PTC because Dallas has it eyed as a future commute route.

I do not think you would need a UP engine--just a UP engineer and conductor. Wherever UP has ACS or ATC, a UP engine is necessary on a detour movement unless the detouring engine is so equipped.
