National journey article about Amtrak

Long article about Amtrak's starvation diet.  National Journal what political leaning ? It seems to be a few more persons and corporations are coming around for Amtrak.

Thanks for the fine post.   National Journal focuses on politics and Washington (inside the Beltway) policies.  Although some forum members might think the Journal leans left, that is a matter of one's own perspective.

More news on cutting edge rail technology:

[translated from FAZ.net] "The Japanese maglev has set a new world record on a test track. The maglev reached a speed of 603 kilometers per hour, the railway company Central Japan Railway announced on Tuesday. The Magnetzug so broke its own recently established record of 590 kilometers per hour.

The maglev, the competition to the German Transrapid, will be connecting Tokyo in 2027 with the industrial city of Nagoya. It is expected that the train will reach during normal operation a maximum speed of 500 kilometers per hour. Thus, the travel time between Tokyo and Nagoya will be shortened to just 40 minutes. The high-speed Shinkansen currently requires over double that time.  The government had given the railway company a few months ago the green light for the construction of the planned route between Tokyo and Nagoya. By 2045, the route will be extended to the metropolis of Osaka. The world record was set with the new car LO-series on a test track west of the capital Tokyo. It was also the last high-speed test."
