California is starting first steps to aquire more equipment.  No breakdown but more sprinters and California cars ( bi levels ).  Will post link here as soon as find one.

Interesting report for those interested in CA rail service. It looks like the refurbished Comet cars are not long for California service. They looked great when I saw them at the Lodi station last month.

See page 59, breakdown between new cars and locomotives still under discussion. And yes it appears the Comets are out of service at the end of the holiday season. Love the worries that separate baggage cars and climbing vestibule steps drives away business.

The intersting ridership stat I saw in the report was that the busiest segment in the Valley is between Bakersfield and Fresno. Maybe the first short segment of the HSR system might be useful after all!
