High Speed Rail
Posted by I C Rider on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 6:39 PM

I just heard something funny on our local new at 6pm in Jackson MS. A city counselman said that a proposal to reate a high speed rail lline from Dallas TX to Atlanta GA utilizing KCS Meridian speedway for most of  the way . Is it feasible? Would it relieve any pressure from DFW or ATL?

Well most of the "speedway" is in remote areas in the piney woods of both LA and TX.    If you got multiple billions it could be feasible but I have my doubts KCS is interested given their preference to run freight.    I believe Norfolk Southern has a deal to pay to upgrade half the speedway so that it can get it's Intermodal trains from Atlanta to Dallas faster.    That is currently the only track upgrade taking place and I believe it was just from Meridian, MS to Shreveport, they didn't pay to upgrade from Shreveport to Dallas.     Anyways, not a lot of congestion between DFW and ATL airports, IMHO.
