This post has reference to the six GN/CBQ Budd built Great Dome Lounge cars that operated on the "Empire Builder".
I know that the "Glacier View" was purchased by the BN in 1981 and is used in the Executive Train as a theatre car. I have ridden in this car several times. Also, I worked a messenger job for the BN and saw that car up on blocks at the BN's Bridal Veil Passenger Car Shop in Minneapolis. The car was being converted to HEP.
What is the status of the other five cars. "Amtrak By the Numbers" (Warner & Simon", page 161, lists the following (not including the "Glacier View": "Ocean View", "Mountain View", and "River View" were converted to HEP. Are they still operating or have they been sold? "Lake View" shows retired and "Prairie View" shows for sale. What is the disposition of those cars.
Thank you,
Ed Burns

All you ever wanted to know about Dome Cars - GN and everybody else.
Site hasn't had a picture update since 2010 so I am certain some things have changed in the past 4 years.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Ocean View (10031) is still active - it ran on various midwest single-level trains in 2013, as well as on the Adirondack north of Albany.
