Europe is now in a snowjam

Complaints about US rail service shutting down due to our large snow storms need to be re thought.

1.  Eurostar shut down today.

2. pARIS HAD 4-1/2  - 5  INCHES  of snow.   Is almost completely shut down

3. TGV service very spotty

4. Germany many problems

Can some of our European posters give us more info ?

Were there many shut dows a couple years ago in europe due to grainy snow ?

there may  be a lot of DC traction trains in these european locations that do not like grainy snow ?

That is one reason that AMTRAK is going to all AC traction

Unlike two years ago, Deutsche Bahn seemed to have learned their lesson. There have been some delays this winter, but not to the extend experienced in 2010/2011.

Winter is an impediment to all modes of traffic. Even with delays, rail travel is still much more reliable than any other mode.

Sir Madog
Winter is an impediment to all modes of traffic. Even with delays, rail travel is still much more reliable than any other mode.

I repeat this because it is worth emphasizing.
