good idea and creative thinking
If you're following the discussion on Transit about the aftermath of Sandy and NJT's performance, or lack of, this bit of information is interesting in that NJT has not indicated any problems with equipment but only with lack of electric power, many washouts, and trees down all over. CNN is the only place, and not confirmed nor addressed by NJT, that 65 locomotives and 257 cars were caught in flooded locations. And other news reports about Amtrak reveals this information. I know Joe Boardman enough to know that he knows how to do his job and how to run a railroad. This is something he would bring up and offer to NJT. But, the real question is whether or not NJT asked for this help...nothing is coming from NJT in the form of revealing information about their situation.
