I am going to Miami via Jacksonville, Florida, which probably seems like the hard way to most folks, but not for someone who likes trains. I am flying to Jacksonville on July 25th. I am catching the train on the morning of July 26th for the run to Miami. My hotel is near the airport. What is the best way, as in quickest and least expensive, to get from the airport to the Jacksonville Amtrak Station?
I did what you are doing in reverse about 18 or 20 years ago, and if the station is where it was then, taxi is really the only convenient and fast way. The only alternative is to have the hotel get you back to the airport, take the regular limousine downtown, and then take the public bus (there was one but ran infrequently, about once an hour, perhaps every half hour during rush hours) to the station, a slow 30-40-minute trip, and this would invovle your alloting two hours for the transfer to be safe. Of course, things may have improved since my last visit.
