A new Amtrak dinning car in service

There is a report that the new 8400 dinner that has been slowly be designed  from a rebuilt Amfleet car has made its maiden trip. The car was listed on May's performance report as being completed by the end of the FY 2011.

Reports are that it was on  #49 (Lakeshore limited ) from NYP - CHI  October 2 departure.

Anyone with more sightings?

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about a new evening meal that Amtrak is serving, not about a new car (diner).

As I understand the two words, a dinning car would be one which has a lot of noise (din) in it.

I have to confess to an error.  8400 was built from a Viewliner #62091 instead of an Amfleet.  This car 8400 is to be the prototype of the Viewliner - 2 dinners that are already on order. I suspect that 8400 will be going on shakedown trips to verify that it operates as planned. More importantly any deficiencies that show can be incorporated into the new Single Level dinners now on order.
