[/quote]</P> <P>A careful read of my post reveals two key points;</P> <UL> <LI>What the government spends on other activities has nothing to do with what it should spend on passenger rail, and</LI> <LI>passenger rail is a suitable solution where the cost of expanding highways and airways is cost prohibitive.</LI></UL> <P>I have maintained consistently these views since I began posting to these forums more than three years ago.</P> <P>No suggestion that the military should be outsourced was made or implied. Since the beginning of the Republic the U.S. military has relied on contractors for equipment and supplies, as well as critical support services best performed by civilians. </P> <P>There are numerous activites performed by governments at all levels that could be outsourced. In fact, there are many examples of where they have been with good results. </P>
