Late eastbound Zephyrs
Posted by mbv9415 on Sunday, February 27, 2011 5:52 PM

The CZ just came through my town, 15+ hours late. last sunday it was 9 hours late. Don't know about week days as I'm sleeping when it's due, working at this time. Westbound has been on time every night. I thought they padded the schedule for UP. Has it been running this late regularly?

Major snow problems on Donner Pass.  They got stabbed quite a few hours around Colfax.  # 5 had to be recrewed out there also.

This is some background on the late # 6 train last Friday.

The fun train was parked behind # 6 at the Bowman crossing of Interstate 80 for many hours last Friday when the Hill was messed up.  # 6 was about 300 feet in front of the fun train at Bowman.  I don't believe the fun train was that much fun parked in the cut for seven hours or so.

This is the fun train at Soda Springs on the return trip Sunday the 27th.  I bet they had more fun on the return trip which was on time.

This is the 5586 which was sent out of Roseville to connect up and pull a BNSF train stalled for some reason just west of Gold Run.  Interstate 80 was closed for several hours and this pair of locomotives ran light up to Gold Run crossovers to clean them out, they picked up a maintenance crew at Colfax.  Notice the shovels in the ladder on the front of the 5586.   Meanwhile, # 6 and the Fun train were on hold back at Bowman for more than seven hours.   I read # 6 was running about 9 hours late when it got to Salt Lake City.  The so called fun train must have pulled into Reno about seven to eight hours late.
