Question about the Amtrak Pepsi Cans (Dash 8s)
Posted by Amtrak_Titan on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 12:13 AM

For the Amtrak Dash 8s does anyone know on what was the last Amtrak Dash 8 to be repainted from the Amtrak Pepsi Can scheme (Phase III) to Phase IV? I think it was 518, but I could be wrong.

Wow!  What an obscure question!  Me?  Dunno!  Were they the same locos as Metro-North used in New Jersey, or were those Dash 7s?  Saw one, maybe ten years ago, in a BN/BNSF freight lash-up here in Montana.  Even got a picture!  Long way from home, it was.

The Amtrak Dash 8s are not the ones used by Metro North in New Jersey. For that picture please post is ASAP because I would like to see it.

News Flash!!!  With Warren Buffett's takeover of BNSF, all new, and newly-shopped units, will be painted as "Coca-Cola" cans.  The BNSF herald and lightning bolt logo are out, being replaced by a GEICO "Gekko" on the nose, with sunglasses, in deference to our western weather.  "NetJets" ads will be placed, conspicuously, on the sides of the locos, along with M&M-Mars ads.  Damaged units will be covered with J&J's "Band Aids".  More, shortly, as corporate decisions are made...

I had heard that Warren Buffet Bowwas goingh to allow Cort Furniture Rental to redecorate the BNSF locomotive cabs, and each EngineerCowboy and ConductorCaptain was going to be sent to Nebraska Furniture to pick out a La-z-boy recliner for his seat!ApproveBig Smile
