We Just got a call from Amtrak about our vacation saying that on the return trip from Denver on the CZ, we won't be going back the way we came! We will be going through Salt Lake and Wyoming!!! Apperantly, UP is doing track work on the track east of Denver. So the CZ has been re routed. what rr will we be traveling over? UP I-80 corridor tripple track? We will be going over half of the country won't we! Also no stops!

Sorry, scratch that idea. Amtrak just called mom again and said that the re route wasn't for us. it was a CGM (computer genarated message) and it was a glitch. It was for us cause we are getting off in Denver. Sorry. I guess the re route is west of Denver.
If you do a re-route, yes you will go via UP in Wyoming. Passengers between SLC & Den may be bus while the trainruns nearly non-stop (not sure where fuel & service stops are). If you are on a re-routed train, bring your camera for some normally freight lines.
There may be a thread for re-routes from last summer. UP must have some more work to do.
