This morning the Weather Channel interviewed the leader of a nonprofit group that helps the homeless stay out of the cold. It was 15 degrees at the time, not particulary cold if you live in Maine but cold enough for the south. Anyway, this guy was saying that there are about 2500 homeless people on the streets right now in Nashville and that throughout the year there are close to 20,000. Maybe Mayor Barry should make taking care of the vulnerable people of her city her first priority rather than spending $5.2 billion on a fancy transit system that takes residents of the suburbs to their jobs in the city.
There will always be more traffic and homelessness. They need to address both, and many other problems.
