I would bet that the inventor (?) never considered the possibility that his toy might get stuck in the slot and couldn't release from the cable.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

That would be a safe bet because the toy doesn't go anywhere near the slot.  Actually watching the video with even marginal knowledge of skateboarding will reveal that the board's wheels are shaped to run in the flange clearance of girder rail.

Note the carefully-implemented brake arrangement.
