I have been following the conversion of part of the ex-Erie/EL Northern Branch to light rail. Some of that work has been described here so far, including the extension of service to Englewood Hospital (and no further!).
March 20 I received a communication that says the Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (available at www.northernbranchcorridor.com) for the project has been issued and is available for review and comment. This extends and in some respects modifies the original DEIS (from December 2011).
There will be two public hearings on this, perhaps unsurprisingly only 4 hours apart on the same day so it is really one hearing in two 'heats'. This will be starting at 3:00pm Monday, April 24th, at the Crowne Plaza Englewood, 401 S. Van Brunt, Englewood 07631, with the second session starting at 7:00pm. Presentations will begin about 1/2 hour into each session.

Go figure. An environmental impact study on a rail line that's been in place since 1859. Anyone seen any two-headed chickens running along the right-of-way lately?
