Double Tracking the South Shore Line
Posted by CMStPnP on Monday, June 13, 2016 9:02 PM

So trains magazine says this will lead to 1 hour and 55 min express run times between South Bend, Ind and the Millenium Station in Chicago being added to the schedule  (current regular schedule is 2 hour and 40 min).     Which is good news, IMO.    METRA should do more of that as well, IMO and help speed Amtrak along..........possibly make the freight flow a little more fluid as well?    Use speed and efficiency to improve ridership and operational costs.

Added tracks and crossover switches cost money.   Apparentlyl, Indiana is willing to spend it.

So if METRA Commuter trains were analogous to your typical Illinois boat driver this is how we would want to see them operated.    Note how the boat moves seemlessly in and out of traffic and avoids the stopped boats......Big Smile
