Seattle's city center is on essentially an isthmus, with no affordable housing nearby. Sounder expansion would be good, but triple tracking is almost certain to be needed. I suppose some trains could be routed over the UP between Seattle and Tacoma if things could be succesfully negotiated.
They MUST be popular if MTH put out an O gauge model of a Sounder train a few years back. Miss it? Don't worry, it'll be back. MTH rotates their stuff every few years.
Sound Transit is negotiating with BNSF Railway in hopes of bringing all-day service to the Sounder line to serve fast-growing communities in Pierce and South King counties.
