For a historical footnote, Market Street Railway had double track turntables at the Ferry Building powered off of the cable.  Before the 1906 earthquake, of course...

Yep now I see him,,,He is camofloged in the morning light and gray film but yep he is there

If you'll look at the lower right side of the cable car, you can see an operator is pushing the car in a counter clockwise direction.
