At 1:15 seems to show a automted turntable (but I am told that the operater may have been edited out)-

If you'll look at the lower right side of the cable car, you can see an operator is pushing the car in a counter clockwise direction.

Yep now I see him,,,He is camofloged in the morning light and gray film but yep he is there

For a historical footnote, Market Street Railway had double track turntables at the Ferry Building powered off of the cable.  Before the 1906 earthquake, of course...
