This is the MTA.com page link that tells the whole story....basically no R train service from Whitehall St, in lower Manhattan and Court St. in Brooklyn...R train service will run in two parts.  Use N  for parallel service or B,D, F, G, and others for connections in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Activated the link..All you have to do is hit the "Enter" button after you paste a link and the link becomes active.

What does this mean for someone in Manhattan who wants to take the R train to Bay Ridge?  Does it mean that he has to take the N train to 59th street and change to the R train to Bay Ridge?

But not for good...for 14 months.  That's and eternity and in this case is for good because it is being entirely rehabbed thanks to Sandy's terror.
