Power change is at Matawan.

RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.

The answer is on the Sandy thread.   The Mattawan - Long Branch section is now 60Hz.   Possibly Long Branch - South Amboy or Long Branch - Rahway has been converted to 60Hz also.  NJT's electric locomotives, like Amtrak's can make the conversion while coasting and are not required to stop.   The MU cars require stopping and throwing a switch under and at the side of the cars.

I remember when the Jersey Arrow III's went all thee way to Long Branch. Why was there a modification at Matawan that affected the Arrow III's run.
