Saturday's snow and ice storm kickked NYC area commuter operations in the butt! Power outages to the public also took juice away from electric operations. But wires down, trees across the rights of ways, ice and slippery conditions added to the woes. LIRR and most subway operations escaped storm relatate problems for the most part, MNRR and NJT went to their knees once again;.
NJT suffered on all lines with ice and slippery conditions and trees down across the tracks. Corridor services operating but not 100% to Trenton, Raritan Valley, and North Jersey Coast points. Hoboken Div, electric service to Montlcair University, Gladstone, and Dover is suispended through Monday, Oct 31st. with trees and wires down, icey conditions. Main/Bergen line to Suffern and Pascack Valley are operating with delays and difficulties. All services are noted as having "cross honoring of tickets" with NJT and all private bus companies except Lakeland.
MNRR is busing Port Jervis to Ramsey/17 Parking station and not serving bus to Sloatsburg and Tuxedo because of "road conditions". East of the Hudson the New Haven and Hudson lines are open, Harlem is open only to White Plains; New Canan, Danbury, and Waterbury lines are all being bustituted with restrictions. Delays expected on all lines.
Got a Ridewithmehenry adventure set from west of Dover on NJT to Greenport, LI on Wed...gonna be intertesting to see how and if it works...will do Thurs or Fri and still get the extra hour of daylight at the end of the day but lose the daylight next week. Also next week is a shortened turnaround at Greenport which at least could help broaden the NJT westbound selection slightly....lunch turnaround no problem as we will phone Sterlington Deli ahead with an order to be ready when we arrive! But NJT has to be back in business to make it work....
