Here is the Broadway LION... Guess whered the picture was taken...
Posted by BroadwayLion on Thursday, October 14, 2021 9:50 AM

The Broadway LION is al;ive and, well, just say alive.

Two weeks ago I fell down the stairs, and now the Prior requires me to use a walker. Nothing was broken, but lots of sore muscles. PT told me that this was coming. I'll not be able to climb to the third floor train room. Perhaps I gan get them to install; an elevator in that building! : )

So it looks like my vacations to NYC will come to an end, but I do have thousands of photos to paw through, like the one attached below. I'll still post over on the MR side of the forums, but many of my photos are more appropriate over here.

Lion, so sorry to hear about your "floor show".  may the Lord bring healing.

Hoping you can soon get up to your layout room soon.

I have no idea where the photo is.

Stay safe.

Sorry to hear about your accident Brother Elias!

If nothing's broken, think positive!  There's a good chance your mobility will return once the soreness is gone.

And I hope Dave Klepper looks in, 'cause I haven't the slightest idea where that shot was taken!

Stay safe, and heal up quick!  You've been away from "Transit" far too long!

PS:  NYC's not too safe right now anyway, you're not missing anything by staying home.

If you are still able to go up stairs, other than a fall safety issue, there is a simple piece of mountain climbing safety equipment you could use.  It is called an ascender (aka. by brand name Jumar).  It is basically a handle with a rope grip.  With a rope anchored beside a bannister, you clip the ascender over the rope, and it prevents you from slipping any further than the short length of the cord between the ascender and your safety belt.  It works both going up and down.  I would guess that fire departments and rescue squads would have something equivalent.

Lion, I think your recovery might be helped by:

Going vegetarian, with fish and eggs making up for lack of meat Protien.

Minimize sugan and alxholol.  Cinamon is a good substitute for sugar,

Minimize srtarch.

If I knew yor real 1st name and your Mom's name. I'd be able to add you to the local prayers for health recovery list.

My email address is ddaveklepper1@gmail.com

If the ophoto isn't on yor model railroad, the it is at one of the two 90-degree curves on the J and Z lines.  I think I remember them as Cyprus and East Fulton and Cyprus and Jamaica.

I'm going to guess Boston somewhere on the Blue Line.

I thought you may have Photoshopped a photo taken from the Cyprus Hills Station on the J and Z lines located on Crescent Street looking toward Jamaica Avenue from the front train-door window of a J or Z heading to Jamaica.

You are the Brodway Lion, and alk your previous questions related to Nsw York City Rapid-Transit locations.

I believe the only high-floor - high-pkatform system usig simple overhead wire, not third rail, is the Dallasm Texas, system.  I don't know it well enough to name the location, but another reader may know.

High-floor platforms... and relatively new construction.

No electrification visible (it would have to be overhead, but look at all the cables visible overhead in the image that would interfere with trolley or cat), but note the presence, and likely diagnostic type, of automatic train control.

Signal type and plate also highly diagnostic for the knowledgeable --

Background is a turn and downgrade along a valley spanned by a substantial parallel road bridge.  There might not be many locations where this happens.

Modifying previous posting:   I think high-floot platforms were or are in use also in Denver, Salt Lake City, and San Diego.   Some very short, reached by aamo, only for use by handicapped, and some removed when every trsin included a new low-floor car.  Again, I don't have detailed knowledge of all these systems.

Someone who has the time and places importance on answering Lion's question (important to me systems I know), inspecting the route-maps of the systems I've mentioned should provide the answer.   sharp right-angle bends are not something usually seen.

I wonder if Broadway Lion might consider introducing interchange freight service on his subway system.  The IRT never did, but the BMT certainly did with the South Brooklyn Rai8lway operations.  And post-WWII diesel, as well as electric.

For the prototype, he can pullup the South Brooklyn thread.  Except for the 9th Avenue area, most photos are on surface, but they did use the  tracks of all four lines reaching Coney Island.

He could also consider a look at the CRT/CTA freight operation on behalf of Milwaukee Road on the North Side main line which operated into the 1970's.

I had a picture of subway cars switching boxcars in Canarsie circa 1949...

Brother Elias get well soon.   FWIW one of the assistance items available are lifts that can be built in staircases for people who need mobility help with stairs. A single lift can be used to reach multiple floors.

Just a guess Pittsburgh area? The tracks look a little wider then 4' 8 1\2 ".
