Glen Ellyn, Illinois has won a $14.4 million Federal grant to be applied to plans for a new Metra train station and pedestrian underpass beneath the triple-track UP West Line. I hope they are able to follow general plans previously announced for the station, which would meld architectural elements from classic Chicago Aurora & Elgin and Chicago & North Western stations that previously stood in town. The current station, a nondescript building from the 1960s, has become too small for the number of passengers.

Glen Ellyn is now the second busiest suburban station on the UP West Metra line.
If this works, here's an image of the proposed station from 2018.
