The Green D Line was opened with PCC cars on 3 July 1959.

Was this a "streetcar" line or dedicated ROW?

Entirely dedicated RoW.  The former suburban Highland Branch of the Central's Boston and Albsny, an underground flying junction with the Beacon Street Line near Fenway Park and then the Green Line subway downtown.   Boeings replaced the PCCz, and current service seems mostly a single high-floor-with-steps Kink Sharo (Sp?) mued with one Breda low-floor.

The PCC transfers closed the Harvard Square streetcar liines, Arlingtonl Heights with cutback of half the service at North Cambridge near Porter Square, Waverly, and Watertown.  The trolleybuses that replaced the PCCs came frpm the Arborway-Forest Hills lines, Dedham Line, Cleary Square, and Charles River Loop, which got diesels after only seven or eight years of TT operation,

Dedicated RoW/

PCCs came from Harvard Square streetcar lines of which three were converted to TT and one to bus.  The TTs came from lines converted from streetcar seven or eight years earlier and were converted to bus.  So only buses were purchased to enable light rail on the former NYC-B&A Highland Branch.

PCCs replaced by Boeings.  Boeings replaced by Kinki-Shaaro w/steps and Breda low-floors, usually one type mued with the other.
