Sub-organist Need/Opening for an Associate Director of Music Position

Greetings Dear Colleagues,

I hope your Fall Programming is  off to a Great Success.!!! And forgive what might be rather “toward:”

I’m in need a sub organist here at the Cathedral:

The 8:00 and 9:30 Masses for:
Sunday, October 1
Sunday, October 8
Sunday, October 15

Kindly respond at your earliest convenience, and the timeliness is indeed a great factor, as well, this e-mail is going to a “group.”  - I know that one would NOT do this for “Union” orchestra jobs - However, we are in a difficult situation.

-The person whom responds 1st will be get the assignment - and I will respond to ALL with the winning tkt holder! Hahaha!

--------------------------------------------------------
You don’t necessary have to be available for ALL 3 weekends, but PLEASE be available for both masses on the same day.

We are located just across the square from the Rockville Centre Stop of the Long Island Railroad, Babylon Branch from Penn.  – the finest collection of restaurants on Long Island - should you wish to have lunch/dinner!!

The organ has 150 stops, and our cantor/soloist is a stunning singer from Ithaca undergrad, Boston University grad, and has perfect pitch!

R.S.V.P. - A.S.A.P.
Gratefully,

Michael

Director of:
The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys
The Cathedral Chorale (Mixed Adult and Teen Choir)
The Diocesan Boys/Teens Choir of Rockville Centre
The Cathedral Schola Cantorum and Cathedral Singers
The MasterChorale 2013

------------------------------------

Last Friday, we hosted a wonderful Wind Orchestra from the Diocese of Munich, Germany, and about 65 members of my Cathedral and Diocesan Choirs performed as well (The group was here for the 50th Anniversary of the Steuben Parade in New York City), and we had a GRAND party under tents on the Square for ALL-SeptemberFEST we called it.  A project we had worked for more than one year.

Saturday followed,  with 25 of my Top Members of the Choir of Men and Boys, and Diocesan/Teens Choir to be with the Sistine Chapel Choir, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City, Dinner and  a Private Reception Affair.  Another great success which had been worked for many months.

And then for Sunday with our Choirs again to the Opening 11 AM  Mass, the beginning of the 100th Anniversary of our Cathedral Elementary School with 1,000 students strong, and the Blessing of our Catechists. (We have 2,000 students in the Religious Education program.)

And then of course, the usual multitude of funerals, weddings, and Sunday liturgies!  And preparations for our multiple choir programming.  All this being said, aren’t we busy people!

---------------------------------------
As you may know, I will be announcing the Opening for an Associate Director of Music Position here at St. Agnes Cathedral, in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York, in the coming weeks.   The details of the job description are being worked out, under the supervision of my Rector.   And I hope to provide more complete information, very soon.  Meanwhile, perhaps you might begin to think of candidates, whom you might recommend to apply for the job.  As we know, this is quite a process, and given our vibrant program here, the choices must be considered.

MOST OF ALL, I need your thoughts and prayers at this time.

With Best Wishes,

Gratefully,

Michael

I might point out that one need not be a Catholic or have any specific religious belief to apply for this work.  Just being a good musician, the ability to play the organ well and follow the directions of the choral director is all that is required.

And people of all kinds of belief systems attend concerts at this cathedral, convenient to the LIRR.
