No defintive laws on this that I can find.Amtrak is a big no-no. But commuter and light rail is a grey area So even with a permit Buffalo Metro Rail and Cleveland OH have no info on this. Here for starters is a breakdown by state on CC. Ohio has open carry BTW.
Because of the possible threat to the rest of us, I'm quite pleased that Amtrak and the airllines do not allow concealed carry.
I remember when open carry meant liquor, not guns.
Really, really don't need John Q Citizen to be concealed or open carrying on any train, plane, bus or boat. Or pretty much anywhere in public for that matter.
Considering the prices of quality firearms nowadays I'm amazed anyone can afford 'em, much less carry 'em.
I still go to gun shows every once in a while and I don't know why, all I get are heart attacks.
I advocate CC for public transit in that it in the hands of a well regulated militia (That would be U and me) it served to protect our life and liberty against those that would take it away. In other words I almost never see transit police on our train cars and when there is a issue they stop the train and wait for transit police to show up. In the meantime then what? If you have the proper training and CC classes are given everywhere and the disrupters will think twice about messing with a armed populace.

Stick to trains, bro-You FAIL as a constitutional scholar. The concepts of a 'well regulated militia' and local police do not intersect.

A militia of 1 is not well regulated, it isn't regulated at all. I would fear for my life seeing you with open carrry of firearms and would most likely feel that I had to shoot you before you shot me. Self Defense and all.
With open carrry, nobody can tell the good from the bad. Count the number of undercover police that get killed in uniformed police involved shootings. Can't tell the good from the bad.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
IT'S A HOBBY not a CON LAW class for amateurs.
The fact of the matter, at least in Illinois is you are restricted from carrying anyplace where you might actually be threatened with violence, and be in need of self defense.
Those of you who believe that concealed carry is a threat to you, each person who attends the training and applies for a concealed carry permit in Illinois does have a criminal background check done by the state police before a permit is issued.
Training and recertification is required.
Most of the concealed carriers that I know also train on an ongoing basis.
If you feel safe because you know good guys cant carry on a train, I hope you never meet a bad guy on a train, they don't care about carry restrictions, so they are assured of having their way with you until someone else with a weapon can arrive.
Good luck!
