Amtrak would never allow a DC CAT to be installed thru Union station. Amtrak probably will anticipate that the future will have a 25 Kv 60 Hz CAT for HSR. Now of course the METRA could buy dual voltage units ? Such as the M-8s the MNRR has purchased.
Based on my discussions with Amtrak's engineering folks they will not accept the proposed ramp from CUS to the Air Line that is a key part of this proposal.
