Chicago CTA yellow line had an embankment give way just after one train passed by and another approached. Chicago water department was doing a deep channel and shoring piles did not hold. Service will be several days to restore.

Minor note: the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is a separate entity and is NOT the Chicago water department. The washout occurred in Skokie, outside the Chicago city limits.
Engineering report from e-mails about collaspe and recovery. Believe this construcction company is same one that caused tilting of I-65 northbound bridge in IN ?

1. Has sewrvice been restored? 2. Did the problem occur west (RR-north) or east (RR south) of the shops?
No. Octoberish is the return to service.
East of the shops, just west of the bridge over the North Shore Channel. Currently CTA is trucking between Skokie and Lower 63rd for railcar deliveries and heavy repair.
It's the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Which covers Cook County, but is a seperate political entity. They have their own railroad (CSDX) at the big reclamation plant in Stickney.
