Daylight Saving Time Question
Posted by pajrr on Saturday, November 1, 2014 6:22 AM

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone can answer a question. At 2am tomorrow morning the clocks go back 1 hour. I know that Amtrak sits at the next staion and sits 1 hour so that the clock catches up with the train. Do commuter trains running at that time of the morning do that too, or are they exempt from that? I live near NYC and we have trains that run that time of day. I'm not talking subway trains, of course, but regular commuter trains of NJT, MN and LIRR. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Does MN run at night?

It seems to me that outbound trains would keep going, but city bound trains would have to wait for their schedule to catch up to them.

Given the recent performance of long distance trains, it's more likely that for most of them they didn't sit; they just became an hour less behind!

And how do they make up the hour at the other end of this silly, pointless, tradition?

In the spring time, the trains just run late. The rule is that they cannot leave ahead of schedule.
