New Tube (Subway) For London

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

If you are interested in the London Transport scene and future let me suggest the October issue of Modern Railways, available at some Barns and Noble stores but also an e version in the Newstand on Apple equipment. It has a special London section with lots of info on the Northern Line extension and separation as well as Cross Rail 1 & 2 (what a joke that some folks are talking about through routing some Chicago services from CUS to the METRA Electric as a "CrossRail" comparable to London. It ain't even close) the 2050 transport vision for London (any US cities got something like that?) and many other things. You'll also get to read Roger Ford's column on how well Network Rail handles things. But then again some here want to emulate the NR concept.

London is doing some great things right now. There's a plan to have a branch from the Northern tube line from around Elephant & Castle to Battersea where the old power station is finally being redeveloped. New Routemaster buses on more and more lines, too.
