Rail travel this weekend in LAX

The 405 Freeway north of downtown LAX is scheduled for a 53 hour closure to remove part of a bridge. Traffic is expected to be horrendous. To mitigate some of traveler's inconvience Metrolink is offering additional trips/.

1.The Ventura County service which has no weekend service (11 RTs on weekdays; Amtrak weekend Surfliner service covers the route) is adding 9 roundtrips (all to/from Charsworth some beyond) both Sat & Sun.

2. Amtrak is maxing out Surfliners on this route.

3. Metrolink Antelop Valley line usually has 6 RTs on Sat and 3 on Sun. Will go to 9 RTs both Sat & Sun.

4. Some indication that  Metrolink will double up with more cars on these trains if ridership dictates.

5. Subway and bus service increased also with free rides on soome lines.

Will be a great opportunity for more LAX persons to ride first time on systems?

Business class on abot 2/3 of 6 Amtrak RTs now sold out. Still plenty of coach seats on all trips.
