I M P R E S S E D !!!!

Just finsihed checking the MNRR, LIRR and NJT pages for today, Wed 2/10 and all three operations are announcing storm plans.  NJT's impressive with a 2 or 3 minute You Tube report complete with images for bus and train and with employee and passenger announcements.  Where they are falling short, however, is they do not spell out specific schedule changes but urge riders to keep checking the NJT information website.  Niether MNRR nor LIRR are as flashy but do present definite schedule changes giving extra train services during the early afternoon while cutting back and combining peak hour trains and cutting back after peak.  LIRR directs you to a page which outlines the changes and services with specifics; MNRR directs you to a page where you can either choose your specific point to point schedule or to PDF's of your specific line for special 2/10 schedules.  While NJT does not give specifics, it is apparent they do have specifics in hand based on past experience, so there is no put down there,  All three operations are really on top of the situation and should be congratulated on the preperation and openess.  It will be interesting to watch as the storm and the day progresses.

Just went through the webpages again..2:45P 2/10.  Both MNRR and LIRR are holding to thier previously posted ememergency schedules from this morning with reminders of the changes.  NJT has now posted schedule changes of cancelled and combined trains from 2 this afternoon through midnight.  In thier posting, NJT points to low passenger counts from this morning allowing them to basically elmininate express train services out of NYP and Hoboken on the Corridor, NoJersey Coast, Gladstone and Morristown lines and combine all trains into locals.  On Hoboken to Spring Valley, Waldwick, Suffern and Port Jervis they are telling passengers to keep posted on Secaucus Jct. connections with certain trains not running and making connection from NYP. Also those using Newark Penn for Raritan and HIgh Bridge are advised of changes in connecting services.  Still in all, all theree agencies seem to be doing an excellent job of maintaining services for the majority in need of transportation.

edited 5:06pm: express trains elimenated and trains combined Hoboken to Waldwick and Suffern, too.

Cool, and thanks!  Wish I was there!  Good day to be at Woodlawn Junction, NY (in the northern-most Bronx) to watch the Harlem and New Haven lines.  More fun in locomotive-hauled days, but...  They might even have some "snow-fighting" equipment out.  +44 degrees F. in Montana!  No snow.
