SP 4449 is kept at the former SP Brooklyn roundhouse in Portland Oregon. Also there is SP&P 4-8-4 700 along with a OR&N 4-6-2, a Nickel Plate painted RSD5 and an Alco PA.

4449 ran double headed with UP 844 in May - should be lots of photos surfacing about those runs.

SP 4449 and SPS 700 and the UP Pacific (I can't remember the number) are owned by the City of Portland, Oregon, and operated and maintained by their individual support Societies - such as "Friends of the 700".

Doyle McCormack owns the RSD-5, PA (a shell), F7, and at one time, a ex-GN F45.

4449, in "Daylight" paint, is currently housed somewhere in Portland, Oregon, under the care of Doyle McCormack.  It and the rest of his collection are looking for a home.

I don't know about the remainder of the train.

The members of the Olympic Model Railroad Society and the Olympia NMRA clinic members made a small effort to record the passing of SP4449 and UP844 throught the Tenino / Olympia/ Steilacoom (Washington) areas as the Special made it's way north on the BN mainline.  Photos, comments and video can be viewed at this url:

Thanks for taking the time to visit.  There are many good photos on other sites. Just google UP844 and you can find lots of places to see good photos and video.  John Nelson, Sec. OMRS

His PA is not a shell.

A-HA!  Progress has been made.  It's been a year since I talked with him last, so I am not as up-to-date as I could be.

The 4449 is in a shed in Portland, Oregon. She is currently in the Daylight paint scheme. SP 4449 was painted in the American Freedom Train again in 2002 until 2003 or 2004.
