I'm not a C&NW fan (nothing personal) but wow, that DOES look good!

That unit was Amtrak 467 for the first two decades of its life. It never crossed my mind that it would be a Chicago and Northwestern heritage unit in the future.

Ironic that C&NW was located in Chicago and yet their locomotives had Green Bay Packer colors.

That is a great looking unit - maybe Amtrak should start doing the same thing.

Kudos to Metra - I think all their Heritage units are very, very well done.

Are you trying to troll us?  Taxicab gold is not Stagecoach Yellow, and that hunter green is just ... well, not.

Did that blue color ever have anything to do with C&NW livery?  (Or their chosen yellow, either ... although it would be closer than Taxicab Gold...)  Ron Wolf did say the yellow they wore was a kind of 'Michigan Yellow' which I suppose is inching toward Stagecoach...

I did think it was funny that a major reason 'green' was adopted was that, after all, the team was playing in 'Green' Bay.  That would call for a far more... well, marine hue of green than either what they picked or what the North Western used, weathered or not.  Perhaps they could have called it "Baie Verte" and then sold the color rights...

But, the team didn't even play in green bay all that time. They played half their games in Milwaukee for a very long time.

As a Packer Stockholder, I can weigh in on a couple of items.

The Packers played two home games per year in Milwaukee County Stadium for a little over three decades. Even today, season ticket holders of the "Milwaukee package" of two games per season get tickets to two games per season.

The Packers first wore green and gold in 1935 and their fourth championship season (of 13 championships) in 1936.

The reason the Packers started out in blue and gold was because Curly Lambeau, one of their original group and their first coach for several decades, had played collegiately at Notre Dame, and used those colors.

I suspect the idea and lineage of the Yellow and Green Color actually came before the Green Bay Packers were founded from C&NW predecessor railroad, Milwaukee, Lakeshore and Western.   See photo link below.
