It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
zugmann But if you bad ordered a locomotive honoring any choice of gods - well, guess you'd have to look out for lighting or something. Although I've probably used more than one lord's name in vain when dealing with a few engines.

Ah yes, "speaking in tongues" when dealing with recalcitrant equipment. Been there, done that.

Celestia Gevo.
Gods? Why not a goddess? Say Botticelli's Venus (On A Half-Shell)? Now this on the side of a locomotive (plenty of room on those slab-sided diesels) would get everyone's attention!

Or maybe Titian's "Venus of Urbino?"

Alas! this is likely to be too contentious a subject to take up here. But remember, we came close with the stylized cross and monicker for the Santa Fe... part of which survives, dare I say 'in spirit', in some of the current BNSF logos on both engines and cars.
great to honor ones who protect us every minute of every day of year!!! be great to have one honoring god!!!
I'd love to see this unit in HO Scale.
caldreamerWAY TOO MUCH CRAP ON THE SIDES.
And the "Pride in Service" schtich? The acronym might make for some interesting variations.
WAY TOO MUCH CRAP ON THE SIDES. They need to have a clean crisp look while celebrating what ever they want.
SD70DudeI would consider the blue light to be a trap set by management, and refuse to move the locomotive until a Carman came and removed it.
I'm guessing they were just put on for the photo op. CFR requires white auxillary lights. (unless they get a waiver - but with blue light regs, I doubt it, but never say never on the railroad. )

I cringed at the red and blue ditchlights.
Jackboots and black leather trenchcoats.
You mean the 'Spirit of American High Finance' locomotive, complete with Jay Gould, Daniel Drew, William H. Vanderbilt, Morgan and Mellen, Bob Young, the van Sweringens, and Phil Anschutz peering out like Lenin in some Diego Rivera mural, and EHH in his Reaper costume puffing on a cannula in the foreground? Nose of the locomotive in gold, patterned as double eagles and krugerrands, long hood in green Benjamins, and it takes lots of Benjamins to cover all that.
Spirit of PSR is much more elegant. The whole locomotive is economical dip gray except for the stylized busted pocket watch emblems copied from NROL-79.
Not to be outdone: I understand UP will have unit 1872 decorated in a Credit Mobilier heritage scheme, rumored to include Oakes Ames with one of his shovels broken over his head.
Wonder when they will come out with the 'Spirit of the Hedge Fund' locmotive? Will that be followed by the 'Spirit of PSR' decorated with the names of the facilities and people that are no longer a part of the company?
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – CSX Transportation’s "Spirit of our Law Enforcement" commemorative locomotive is being unveiled today at the company’s Huntington locomotive shop. CSXT 3194 is being renamed to honor our nation’s police off...
