Santa Fe F-7's....
Posted by CMStPnP on Sunday, January 27, 2019 9:00 AM

Even though these are pretend heritage F-7's and are actually ex-Canada units, like to see these on the railroad.    The units are owned by the Galveston railroad museum and BNSF lets them go out every once in a while on their Galveston / Houston area trackage.    I think most of their coaches are ex-ATSF at least.

Also, those horns are a little oversized for the locomotives but sound nice.

Beautiful engines!

OK, maybe the horns aren't correct but you're right, they do sound nice.  Very melodious.

When you come down to it those ditch lights aren't historically correct either, but if that's what it takes to get them out on BNSF trackage, so what?

Thanks for posting the video!

Very inept installation of ditch lights.  Looks like something my limited fabrication skills would do - not railroad craftsmen.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

I think they are removeable vs permanently installed.....not sure though.

The units are ex SP and ex T&NO, neither of which was located in Canada.

I just watched the video again and went full-screen for a closer look.  Those ditch lights aren't permanent installs, they're just add-ons.

Which is good, they don't affect the historic "fabric" of the locomotive and can just as easily be removed.
