I'm amazed that any of these rare SDP40s are still in service.  I thought BNSF took them off the roster.

The 6326 is still on the roster too. Its stored out of service though.Sad [:(]

what's even more amazing (to me, anyway) is it still has the ventilation grill for the steam heater intact and open. I though they would have closed those off years...nay, decades ago!

   The Union Pacific still has a group of ex CNW SD40-2 operating along with ex SP S[Ts in  service rumor has it as long as they keep running they will be in use If they siffer a major breakdaown then it will be stored   Larry

i fail to see how that has anything to do with SDP40s but ok...i see a lot of either of those UP SD40-2s whenever i catch a train in Altoona.

certainly interesting to see an SDP40. too bad they killed it with those noselights. should've repainted it too

In 2003, at the GNRHS convention in Havre, Montana, I was able to get inside the 6327-originally GN 325. The steam generator compartment is empty, and the grilles are actually plated over from the inside. The only things inside that area were a couple of spare knuckle holders. We could still see the marks on the deck where the steam generator sat.
This was part of our tour of the Havre locomotive shop for the convention. Thanks, again, BNSF!
