On conventional cabs (up right control stand) the engineer pushes down on the loco brake which bails it off, however on moderized desktop controls I believe the concept is the same except the engineer must push the lever to the right and that allows it to bail off. I wrote a forum all about this subject in the locomotive section called locomotive break.

The red/green buttons are MU shutdown (red), MU run (green).
Button below is most likely attendent call (alarm bell).
I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear on the position of one control. I was talking about the black switch/knob directly in front of the loco brake. It might be to bail off. Here is a link to a better photo of this control-

Here is my attempt, the red foot button is probilly for horn sequince, the yellow button is the alerter, the black phone is the radio handset and the other one I have no idea.
