Speaking of Genset, I just saw one yesterday. It was sandwiched in a 4-engine front end with 2 of those FERROMEX engines - I don't know exactly what they are - they are some kind of modern GE like a 44AC or GEVO but the trucks look like they were taken off of a SD70M. The third engine back was brand new and looked like a real big switcher. It had quite a bit of writing on the hood and said GENSET, UNION PACIFIC and I can't remember the exact words but it was clearly a green engine - I think it said something like "ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY." Do they make them in Mexico? It looked totally brand, spanking new, and was heading north on a track that comes right out of Laredo. Maybe a delivery?

I have to get some kind of guide book on engines. I was driving along side it and could not safely get my camera from the back seat. If I see another one I'll get a pic.

According to Locomotive 2007, NS is building gensets at Junita, from kits supplied by Rail Power.  One of the few railroads still able to build power these days.

NS is picking up some gensets.  So far, NS 100-101 are RP20BD's from Railpower, NS 300-301 are 3GS21B's from NRE, and NS has two RP14BD's on order from Railpower.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I have a picture of a new locomotive on NS numbered 100 a four axle loco. that resembles a SW 1500 with a short hood forward. What is this and does anyone have the spec's and complete pictures.
