According to several local railfans, D&H 7303 is heading to Canada to be rebuilt and repainted. does anyone have any proof?

Do you know if it will come back after repainting?

Unless it goes to a contract shop in Montreal (CAD), CPR no longer has any main shops or paint facilities in Canada.  One report has it being re-assigned to Calgary.  No doubt we'll know for sure in a week or two.

So is CP or CN taking it?

The D&H became part of CP quite a few years ago.  The sister engine, D&H 7304 spent several months in western Canada last year before returning to the US still in blue and silver.  Last I heard it was somewhere on CP's former Soo Line trackage.  Another of the group is presently in the Calgary area, CP 7308, carrying CP's current paint scheme and reporting mark.
