NS executive F unit question.
Posted by eolafan on Sunday, November 20, 2016 10:29 AM

While recently watching a video showing the four NS executive F units from the top of the units, it appeared to me (based on the style of the exhaust stacks only) that units 4270 and 4271 are normally aspirated and that units 4275 and 4276 are turbocharged...am I correct in my assumption? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are correct.

The 4275 was upgraded in December 2014 to a turbocharged EMD 16-cylinder 645-E1C engine rated at 2,000 horsepower and equipped with Interstate Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system.

The 4276 was upgraded in February 2015 to a turbocharged EMD 12-cylinder 645E3C engine rated at 2,000 horsepower and equipped with Interstate Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system.
