F7A Athearn Genesis and Ready-toRun
Posted by CharlesV on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 8:36 PM

I would like an Athearn Genesis F7A M&StL, but they are extremely hard to find at a reasonable price.  I have a M&StL set of Athearn F7A ready to run (powered and dummy).  I would like to know whether the shell on my M&Stl F7A would fit on an Athearn Genesis F7A engine.  If so, I maybe could buy an Athearn Genesis F7A of any road name, remove the shell, and install the shell from my Ready-to-Run Athearn F7A.

I do not want to buy a cheap Athearn Genesis F7A and then find out this does not work.

Thanks for your help.

Charles

This forum operates in  1:1 scale railroading.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

As Balt said, this is for the prototype.  You would do much better to post this in the Model Railroader Forum.

Sorry.  When I signed up for the forum, that is what I thought I was doing.  My mistake.

I don't know boys, if an Athearn Genesis runs better than the prototype I'd love to hear about it!

It's fine.  No big deal.

When I first saw this I thought Athearn had gone and built a 1:1 loco.

Perhaps when Cat sells off EMD in a few years Athearn can step in. kinda hard to tell the difference in their pricing now anyway...
