saw one on the headend of a container train gp40 I think no 10004 something like that in fresh paint spartan cab on the south macmillan line. where would it be from? rambo1..
The number is obviously wrong since five-digit road numbers are incredibly rare in North American railroading (except for NdeM). Beyond that, the description suggests an SD40 since most of the remaining GP40's on CN are widenoses.
The Anderson's (Grain) has a former CN GP40-2 with the reporting mark AEX and the number 100004. Yes six digits.

Possibly he saw spartan cab IC SD70 1004. This locomotive might be painted in CN colors now, with an IC initial below the number on the side of the Cab. I don't track CN repaints.
